Frequently Asked Questions

How long does therapy take?

Therapy is unique for everyone and can vary in duration based on personal goals and challenges. Some may notice changes in a few months, while others might prefer a longer commitment. At Braver, the approach is tailored to help you make lasting changes at the right pace.

Braver Therapy and Life Development operates as a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance. This choice allows us to maintain greater privacy for clients, as insurance companies often require a diagnosis and session records for coverage. Without these requirements, sessions are more confidential and allow clients to shape their therapy without limitations from insurance. Private pay also gives us the flexibility to adapt the frequency and type of treatment to meet each client’s unique needs.

What can I expect in my first session?

This session will explore your background, current challenges, and therapeutic goals. This is an opportunity for you to share what has led you to seek therapy while we begin to establish a respectful and collaborative relationship. We will discuss thoughts about therapy and address any questions you may have. Additionally, informed consent, policies, and the paperwork you completed before your session are reviewed. It’s essential that this initial meeting feels comfortable for both parties, as it lays the groundwork for a relationship built on mutual trust.

Who do you work with?

Braver Therapy and Life Development, LLC provides specialized therapy for adults aged 18 and older, with a primary focus on anxiety, depression, and the impact of addiction on family systems. The practice also accepts a limited number of adolescent clients ages 15 and up. Emphasizing a relational connection in all work, Braver offers focused, evidence-informed care tailored to the unique needs of each client.

How do you handle confidentiality?

Confidentiality is central to the therapeutic relationship. At Braver, we take privacy very seriously, following ethical guidelines and state laws to keep all client information confidential. Information shared in sessions remains private unless you give explicit permission to share it or unless there is a legal or safety obligation.

Do you take insurance?

Braver Therapy and Life Development, LLC is a private-pay practice that does not accept insurance, allowing for greater client privacy and fewer restrictions governing our sessions.
